The Cottingley Secret/ Hazel Gaynor/ 383pgs

Historical fiction, and based on a real events about two young girls who take some photos back in the early 1900's in England of the Fairies playing in their bottom garden.
It was later learned to be staged by Frances and Elsie but it had a lot of people believing in magic and fairies back in a time (World War I) were they needed something to believe it.  Many years later a young woman, Olivia finds an manuscript written by Frances about her adventure with the fairies in a bookshop that her beloved Grandfather willed her. She is intrigued by the story and we also become involved in Olivia's story and how the
stories become entangled. I will admit to looking up real facts about this later on the internet about this time period and the photographs.
That is one thing I love about historical fiction and how it brings the past to life. I would recommend Gaynor's other books before reading this one an my favorite so far is A Memory of Violets.
