This is an excellent fictional account of the
invisible children of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. Jefferson promised to free each child upon their 21st birthday. Since they were 7/8 white they were legally white, but since they were born to a slave, they were slaves. They were not to call the master Pappa. They did, however, receive favorable treatment, but often resented their father's negligence. How could the man who wrote " all men are created equal" own slaves?
